Opportunities for Independence

Incorporated in 1984 Food For All, Inc., dba Food For Life (FFL), a Pennsylvania non-profit organization has led by example. In 1983, Charolotte and Michael McLaughlin founded the organization to assist in finding practical solutions for the epidemic of homelessness and hunger in Philadelphia. This initiative, in conjunction with Mayor Wilson Goode and other City leaders, was successful in bringing the issue of Philadelphia’s homeless and the plight of the indigent population to the forefront of the community.

At Food For Life we continue to provide oversight, leadership and dedicate our resources to creating successful programs and services that mutually benefit our target population and society. By moving individuals to self-sufficiency and independent living, we have made our mission to provide solutions to homelessness and the over-crowding of correctional institutions. Offenders and their families continue to be one of our target populations.

Since 1988, David Dobson has served on the Board of Directors of Food For All, Inc. Under his leadership, Food for Life, which began as a food provider to the needy and operated, at various times, as shelters for homeless men and women. Our programs have flourished and were expanded to reach new distressed populations. Among these are programs for a Community Corrections Center, a Veterans Residence & Resource Center (a facility for homeless veterans housed on the renovated former Dropsie University campus), as well as transitional homes for low-income families
